4.3.5. An order of dismantling of the engine by preparation it to carrying out capital repairs
It is the simplest to make dismantling and service of the engine after installation it on the portable assembly stand. Such stands can always be rented in a workshop of car service. Before installation of the engine on the stand it is necessary to remove from it a flywheel / a driving disk that fixing bolts could be screwed in the face surface of the block of cylinders.
In the absence of a possibility of use of the assembly stand it is necessary to take care of arrangement of a strong metalwork workbench. As a last resort, dismantling and repair of the engine can be made on a garage floor. Prepare also pair of strong wooden blocks for installation of the engine on them. In case of performance of work without use of the stand try not to strike the engine and not to drop it.
If you managed to buy the restored engine, it is necessary to rearrange on it with old all hinged units and components. Such components are among:
a) The bearing generator arms;
b) Arms of the hydraulic pump and K/V compressor (at the corresponding complete set);
c) The thermostat in a casing with the final camera / knee - petrol models (see the Head of the Cooling system, heating);
d) Assembly of the fuel filter / casing of the thermostat - diesel models;
e) The directing tube of the measuring probe;
f) Power supply system components (see the Head of the Power supply system and release);
g) All electric sensors and switches;
h) The inlet pipeline and a final collector (see the Head of the Power supply system and release);
i) An oil filter (address the Head Routine maintenance);
j) Flywheel / driving disk.

At dismantle from the engine of hinged units and components pay attention to characteristic details of their installation which can be useful as reference points at assembly. Try to remember an order of installation of laying, epiploons, remote rings and plugs, pins, washers, bolts and so forth. |
If there is a possibility of acquisition of the reduced set of the engine consisting of the block of cylinders, a bent shaft and rods with pistons (all assembled), it is necessary to remove from the old unit also a head of cylinders, the case pallet, the oil pump and a gas-distributing belt.
By preparation for performance of complete capital repairs dismantling of the engine is recommended to be made in the following order (see appropriate section of the present Chapter if other addressing is not given in brackets):
a) The inlet pipeline and a final collector (see the Head of the Power supply system and release);
b) A GRM drive belt with cogwheels and a natyazhitel;
c) Head of cylinders;
d) Flywheel / driving disk;
e) Case pallet;
f) Oil pump;
g) Conrod and piston assemblies (see Removal of conrod and piston assemblies);
h) A bent shaft (see Removal of a bent shaft).
