12.4. Replacement of blocks of disk brake mechanisms of back wheels

Remember that brake shoes are subject to replacement only in a set and at the same time on both wheels! Replacement of blocks of only one of brake mechanisms leads to violation of uniformity of the grabbing effort and loss of course stability of the car during braking. Do not forget that the dust produced in the course of wear of frictional material of blocks may contain noxious to health asbestos! Do not blow off brake dust at all and do not inhale it. At service of brake mechanisms it is necessary to put on a protective mask or a respirator. Do not use for washing off of brake dust solvents on an oil basis! Wipe components of brake mechanisms only with methyl alcohol or a special cleaner.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Cock the parking brake and prop up antiretractable boots forward wheels, then a back of the car and establish to a poddomkratta it on props. Remove back wheels.

2. Working from the inside of a support, give a nut, navernuty for the end of a fixing finger of blocks. Take the filter of blocks (see also illustration of the Detail of installation of components of a support of the back brake mechanism).



3. Take a finger of fastening of blocks from the outer side of a support.

4. Then remove an antivizgovy spring. Try to remember the adjusting provision of a spring in a support.

5. Take from a support brake shoes with adjusting slips, try to remember the correct adjusting position of the last.

6. Smooth out blocks a wire brush, remove with a brush dust from the surfaces of the brake mechanism (do not inhale brake dust at all!).
7. Wipe with gasoline the face surfaces of both pistons, then carefully dry them and grease with several drops of hydraulic LHM liquid.
8. Establish into place old blocks and record them a fixing finger.
9. Resting the suitable lever against a brake disk and, serially, in each of blocks, completely drown pistons in support cylinders.
10. Take a fixing finger and remove old blocks.

11. Establish new blocks (frictional slips to a disk), having tracked correctness of an arrangement of adjusting slips.

12. Establish an antivizgovy spring, correctly having placed it concerning blocks and a support.

13. Fill a finger of fastening of blocks on the place, having tracked that it correctly entered gearing with a forward part an antivizgovy spring. Screw a fixing nut on a finger, but do not tighten it at this stage of assembly.

14. Install the filter of blocks and tighten a nut of a fixing finger.
15. Repeat the described procedure for the brake mechanism of an opposite wheel.
16. Several times squeeze out a pedal of a foot brake for the purpose of reduction of blocks in contact with a brake disk.
17. Establish to the place of a wheel, lower the car on the earth and tighten wheel bolts with the required effort.
18. Check the level of hydraulic liquid (address the Head Routine maintenance).
19. Remember that full efficiency of braking is reached only after extra earnings of new brake shoes. Try to avoid sharp braking throughout the first 100 - 150 km of a run.
