As an additional complete set on petrol models 1.8 and 2.0 of l, and also on diesel models without turbo-supercharging the 4-staged completely automatic transmission (AT) consisting of the converter of rotation, planetary assembly, hydrodriving clutch couplings and brake tapes can be established (see an illustration External components of the block of automatic transmission).

The converter of rotation provides liquid torque transmission from the engine to transmission. In fact, the converter plays a role of automatic coupling, at the same time providing strengthening of torque at acceleration.

Planetary assembly provides four various transfer relations at the movement of the car forward and a possibility of inclusion of a reverse. The size of the transfer relation is defined by what components of planetary assembly are blocked at the moment and what rotate. Blocking and an otpuskaniye of components of planetary assembly is carried out by means of clutch couplings and brake tapes activated by the hydraulic control unit. The liquid pump which is a part of AT provides the hydraulic pressure, necessary for operation of clutch couplings and brake tapes.

The driver operates functioning of transmission by means of the 7-position lever of the selector. Transfer of the lever to situation "D" provides a possibility of the movement of the car with switching of transmission in the full range of the transfer relations of four forward transfers. Function of machine translation of transmission on a low gear at full squeezing of a pedal of an accelerator (kick-down) is in addition provided. Except "D" three more provisions providing progress of the car in the limited range of the transfer relations of forward transfers are provided. So, in situation "1" the possibility of the movement of the car not above than on the 1st transfer is provided; in situation "2" transmission can switch in the range before the 2nd transfer, and in situation "3", respectively, - to the 3rd. The modes of limited ranges are intended for use at the movement of the car in the difficult road conditions connected with need of braking by the engine (for example, the movement under a bias or on the serpentine).

Do not make switching of transmission in the mode of restriction of the transfer relations at high turns of the engine at all (over 4000 in a minute)!

In view of complexity of a design of AT performance of any works on its repair should be charged to the specialists of company car service of the Citroyon company having the corresponding skills and all necessary equipment. The sections provided further contain only the description of procedures of the general service of AT which implementation in power to the average amateur mechanic.
