3.3.3. Check of a condition of hoses, and identification of sources of leaks
THROUGH EACH 10 000 KM (6000 MILES) OF THE RUN OR TIME IN 12 MONTHS

1. Examine outside the interfaced surfaces of the power unit, paying attention to traces of leak of oil and cooling liquid. Special attention should be paid to joints of pro-masonry surfaces of a cover of the camshaft, a head of cylinders, an oil filter and the pallet of a case. There are no bases to worry concerning existence of easy potek which emergence is quite natural eventually. Only traces of really serious leaks at which identification it is necessary to make replacement of the corresponding laying / epiploon have to guard (see below in the corresponding Chapter). 2. In parallel check a state and reliability of fastening on the unions of all hoses and metal tubes concerning functioning of the engine. Track reliability of fastening of lines hummock bandages, collars and intermediate clamps. In order to avoid wiping of lines replace the broken clamps new. 3. Attentively examine radiator hoses and hoses of system of heating of salon on all their length. At identification of cracks, swellings or traces of aging of material make replacement of a defective hose.
Cracks come to light when bending a hose easier. Carefully check a condition of collars of fastening of hoses on connecting branch pipes of components of the cooling system. Do not forget that often hoses fray and wear out in installation sites of collars. The failed collars of the twisted type will be most correct to be replaced more practical screw or worm. |
4. Attentively examine all components of the cooling system (hoses, the interfaced surfaces, etc.) on existence of traces of leaks.
Remember that leak of cooling liquid is usually shown in the form of a powdery raid of white or reddish color. |
5. In case of need replace a defective component or the damaged laying (see the Head of the Cooling system, heating). 6. At the corresponding complete set check also a condition of hoses of a path of cooling of ATF. 7. Having raised the car above the ground, check a condition of a jellied mouth of the fuel tank. The site of a joint of a mouth with the tank case is especially critical. Pay attention to existence of cracks, punctures, traces of aging of rubber and other defects. Sometimes leaks begin to develop as a result of weakening of fixing collars. 8. Attentively check a condition of all rubber and metal fuel lines connecting a gasoline tank to the engine. Pay attention to dents, flattening, twistings and other other defects. Make sure that ventilating hoses and tubes are not overwound around a jellied mouth of a tank. Make necessary corrections, replace defective sections of lines. Do not forget to check a condition of the lines of a hydraulic path passing under the bottom of the car. 9. In a motive compartment check reliability of nipple connections of fuel, vacuum and brake lines. Estimate a condition of all hoses. |
