3.3.1. Regular service

If from the moment of acquisition of the new car the owner carefully adheres to the schedule of routine maintenance, rather often to make checks of levels of liquids and a state subject to the increased wear of components, the power unit of the vehicle will reliably serve during many and many thousands of kilometers of a run. At the same time need for performance of additional repair and recovery work will be minimized.

On the other hand, it is very probable that in case of neglect performing procedures of regular routine maintenance, enough there will come soon the moment when efficiency of return of the engine considerably falls. Told in a special measure treats cases of acquisition of the car which was in the use which previous owner carelessly treated care of it. At the same time the new owner will not manage to avoid need of carrying out additional recovery work.

In case of suspicions on wear of the engine, a lot of useful information about a condition of its internal components it is possible to obtain, having carried out an inspection of compression pressure in cylinders (see appropriate section of the Head Remont of the engine). By results of check it is possible to estimate the volume of the forthcoming recovery work rather precisely. For example, if check of a compression revealed signs of considerable internal wear of the engine, implementation of the usual list of procedures of the service given below in this Chapter will not lead to restoration of parameters of the unit and will be only waste of time and means. Here it is necessary to make before complete capital repairs of the engine (see Removal and capital repairs of the engine).

The list of the checks, settings and adjustments capable to restore working parameters of the engine which lost the initial characteristics is given below.

Preliminary settings

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Clear the rechargeable battery and check its general state (see. Weekly checks).
2. Check levels and a condition of all liquids concerning functioning of the engine (see. Weekly checks).
3. Check a state and effort of a tension of a driving belt of auxiliary units (see Check of a state and replacement of a belt of the drive of auxiliary units).
4. Check a condition of the filtering air cleaner element, in case of need make replacement (see Replacement of the filtering air cleaner element).
5. Check a condition of the fuel filter (see Removal of water from the fuel filter and Replacement of the fuel filter).
6. Check a condition of all hoses, try to reveal the leak of liquids taking place and to remove their causes (see Check of a condition of hoses, and identification of sources of leaks).
7. Believe installations of turns of idling and prevention of a spontaneous stop of the engine (see Check and adjustment of turns of idling and prevention of a spontaneous stop of the engine).

If performance of the listed above checks and adjustments does not yield desirable result, make the listed below procedures.

Secondary settings

In addition to procedures of primary settings execute the following:

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Check serviceability of functioning of system of a charge (see Systems of start and a charge).
2. Check serviceability of functioning of system of ignition (see System of preheat - diesel models).
3. Check serviceability of functioning of a power supply system (see the Head of the Power supply system, decrease in toxicity and production of the fulfilled gases).
