6.3.3. System of production of the fulfilled gases - the general information, removal and installation

On the cars considered in the present manual the 3-section system of production of the fulfilled gases is used (see the illustrations System of Production of the Fulfilled Gases of the models equipped with the catalytic converter and System of production of the fulfilled gases of models without catalytic converter). The shown schemes are characteristic of all model range of the Citroyon Xantia cars. All sections of a final path are connected among themselves by means of flange joints. For fastening of a reception pipe to a flange of a final collector bolts with nuts are used, tightness of a joint is reached at the expense of the central sealing ring. Spherical shape of the interfaced surfaces of connection and use of the sprung washers provide flexibility of a joint and mobility of sections of system of rather final collector (see the left lower insert on illustrations). For connection among themselves of the remained sections special collars with blooming rings are used (see inserts "and" on illustrations).

On the models equipped with the catalytic converter, assembly of the last is a part of forward section of a final path and is built in in a reception pipe of system of production of the fulfilled gases.

Posting of sections of system it is carried out by means of rubber basic rings.

Diesel models

On diesel models without catalytic converter the two-section scheme (a reception pipe and final section) can be used. And, in the place of a joint of a reception pipe with the catalytic converter the broad camera is provided. For the rest the design of system does not differ from considered above applied on petrol engines. On accompanying illustrations components of fixture of a joint of a reception pipe of system of production of the fulfilled gases with a turbocompressor are illustrated.

On the models equipped with the catalytic converter the system consists of three sections: catalytic converter, intermediate pipe and exhaust pipe. For fastening of the converter to a final collector the flexible joint providing to system relative freedom of movement is used. Other sections fasten among themselves by means of collars with blooming rings.

On all the length of section of system are suspended to arms on the car bottom by means of rubber rings.

Removal

The system of production of the fulfilled gases can be removed from the car posektsionno. In view of features of provision of a back cross beam removal of system is assembled possible only after a detachment from it final section.

To make removal of system or its separate section it is necessary to poddomkratit previously the car and to establish it on reliable props. Alternatively the car can be tired out on a platform or a viewing hole.

Reception pipe

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Give nuts of bolts of fastening of a reception pipe to a final collector. Remove plates of springs and springs. Separate a pipe from a collector and take a sealing ring.
2. Release a coupling bolt of a collar of fastening of a reception pipe to intermediate/back section of system. Divide sections and take a reception pipe from under the car. Remove a blooming sealing ring.

1. Turn out coupling bolts of collars of fastening of an intermediate pipe to reception and final sections of system.
2. Remove intermediate section from suspended support and take it from under the car.

Final section with the main muffler

1. Release a collar of fastening of an exhaust pipe to intermediate/reception section of system. Separate final section.
2. Remove an exhaust pipe from rubber suspensions of support and take it from under the car.

Thermofilter(s)

For fastening of thermofilters to the bottom of the car bolts and nuts are used various type. Removal of each of screens becomes possible only after dismantle of the corresponding section of system of production of the fulfilled gases. If the screen is removed only for the purpose of ensuring access to the components located behind it, on some models will only be to weaken its fixture enough and to slightly lower a plate.

Installation

Installation of each of sections is made as it should be, the return to an order of its dismantle. Pay attention to the next moments:
   a) Before a joint of sections of system track that the interfaced surfaces of flange connections were carefully cleared of corrosion traces;
   b) Do not forget to check a condition of rubber rings of suspended support, replace defective components;
   c) The interfaced surfaces of a flexible joint of a reception pipe and a final collector / turbocompressor before assembly have to be greased with refractory lubricant;
   d) Before tightening of fixture make sure of correctness of placement of sections of system in rubber suspensions of support. Any of sections of system should not adjoin to components of a suspension bracket and body elements of the car.
