2.2. Methods of operation
Lock of ignition/blocking of a wheel
The lock of ignition has four basic positions: S, And, M and D.

At turn of a key in situation S blocking of a steering column is carried out. To unblock a column, twist slightly a wheel, at the same time without effort turning a key. This situation - the only thing at which the key can be taken from the lock. |
Ignition joins turn of a key in situation M. At the same time on an instrument guard the following control lamps have to light up: charge, ABS, level and pressure of oil, parking brake, temperature and level of cooling liquid, self-diagnostics of the engine, pressure and level of hydraulic liquid, forward and side safety cushions, preheat (diesel models), electronic key and STOP.
Control lamps which have to light up at inclusion of ignition
As soon as the control lamp "an electronic key" goes out, it is possible to start start of the engine.
The refusal of control lamps of inclusion at turn of a key in situation M demonstrates presence of malfunctions at the corresponding systems.
The turn of a key in situation D carries out start of the engine by a starter. As soon as the engine is started, the key should be released, having allowed it to return back to the situation M answering to a condition of the working engine.

Do not take a key from the ignition lock to a full stop of the car at all. In order to avoid loss of control over management and braking, move always with the working engine. |
Having parked the car and having taken out a key from the ignition lock, make sure of reliability of blocking of a steering column for what slightly rotate a steering wheel.
Start of motion
Make sure that the lever of switching of transfers/selector is in neutral situation.
Petrol engine
Start of the engine
Start of the engine should be made at the released accelerator pedal. Continue to turn the engine a starter until it is not started, however, no more than 10 seconds for attempt.
At air temperature below 0 °C, for the purpose of simplification of start of the engine, squeeze out a coupling pedal, then slowly release it.
Restart of the engine
The engine flood excess amount of fuel leads to difficulties at its start. In such situation squeeze out against the stop the accelerator pedal and hold it in this situation before start of the engine. Turn a starter no more than 10 seconds in a row. Right after implementation of start release the ignition key.
Still start does not manage to be carried out after several attempts, address for consultation specialists of car service.

If start of the engine was not made from the first before repeating attempt, wait about 10 seconds, holding a pedal of an accelerator of wrung out. |
Diesel engine
Start of the engine
Turn a key in situation M (ignition, preheat), wait until the control lamp of preheat goes out, then begin to turn the engine a starter before start implementation.
At air temperature below 0 °C, for the purpose of simplification of start of the engine, squeeze out a coupling pedal, then slowly release it.
Do not squeeze out the accelerator pedal during start.

Before beginning the movement after implementation of start of the engine, wait until the control lamp of pressure and level of hydraulic liquid goes out. |
The models equipped with system a turbo-supercharging
You do not suppress the engine, previously without having allowed it to work as some time on single turns: it is necessary to allow to fall to the acceptable value to turbocompressor turns.

Unblocking
When switching the AT high-speed modes in the directions specified by shooters (see the nomogram on an illustration above) it is necessary to squeeze out the button of the lock (V) on the lever handle (see in the same place).
Implementation of start of the engine is possible only in two provisions of the lever: Р or N. In all other provisions start is not possible.
Right after implementation of start of the engine squeeze out on a pedal of a foot brake, then by means of the lever of the selector choose the required AT high-speed mode.
Precautionary measures
Carry out switching of the high-speed modes only at the squeezed-out pedal of a foot brake.
Before leaving the car, make sure that the lever of the selector is in situation P. If the lever of the selector is not transferred to situation P, then when opening any of doors of the car the alarm buzzer will sound.
Driving modes
On some models the possibility of the choice of two additional modes of driving is provided (besides normal). To the right of the panel of the lever of the selector two push-button switches

Instructions for use automatic transmission
Parking (Р)
Transfer of the lever of the AT selector to situation P allows to avoid risk of spontaneous kickback of the parked car due to blocking of driving wheels. Inclusion of the mode has to be carried out only after a full stop of the car. Having made sure that the lever of the selector is transferred to the mode P, cock the parking brake.
Movement by a backing (R)
Inclusion of a reverse (transfer of the lever of the selector to situation R) has to be carried out only after a full stop of the car. At the time of inclusion it is necessary to hold squeezed out a pedal of a foot brake. Do not squeeze out the accelerator pedal right after switching of the mode.
Neutral situation (N)
You do not transfer the selector lever to situation N during the movement at all (even for a short time).
Advance in the full range of transfers (D)
In this situation (D) transmission automatically makes switching between four forward transfers depending on the speed of the movement of the car and turns of the engine. When overtaking the possibility of automatic switching of transmission to a low gear when squeezing is provided against the stop accelerator pedals (kick-down mode).
Advance in the range limited to the three first transfers (3)
This mode joins transfer of the lever of the selector to situation 3 and is usually used at the movement on a slippery covering, the twisting road, and also at towage of the trailer.
Advance in the range limited to the two first transfers (2)
This mode is used at the movement on the serpentine with the trailer, as a part of a column, or on the cross-country terrain. Transfer the selector lever to situation (2).
Advance in the range limited to the first transfer (1)
The mode has to be used only at the movement on steep slopes with a speed below 50 km/h.
All modes
Do not switch transmission forcibly to a low gear if turns of the engine exceed value 4000 in a minute.

Gear shifting from situation N in provisions R, D, 2 and 1 has to be carried out only at the engine working at small turns in order to avoid destruction of the transmission. |
Start of the engine is possible only in provisions of P or N.
Control system of speed (темпостат)
General information
Tempostat allows to support automatically by a constant, chosen at the discretion of the driver (but values of 40 km/h are not lower), the speed of the movement of the car.
The system has to be used only in such road conditions when nothing prevents the car to move with a constant speed.
Do not include темпостат on roads with the brisk movement, and also on twisting roads and roads with a slippery covering.

Inclusion of a tempostat
When squeezing the push-button switch (V) the control lamp which is built in in it has to light up. Repeated pressing of the button carries out switching off of a tempostat (the lamp has to go out).
Choice of cruiser speed of the movement

At the included tempostat do not prevent spontaneous movements of the accelerator pedal, holding on it a leg. |
Cancellation of the chosen cruiser mode can be carried out in two ways: pull on yourself the handle A (see an illustration above), or squeeze out a pedal of a foot brake.
Return to the high-speed mode remembered tempostaty after its cancellation can be carried out by the repeated bystry shift of the handle up.
Parking brake and system of anti-blocking of brakes
Parking brake
To put the parking brake in action, it is necessary to cock the lever of its management located in a back part of the central console of the car. The more a bias of the platform on which the car is parked the stronger it is necessary to cock the lever. Simplification of raising of the lever is promoted by preliminary squeezing of a foot brake.
Anyway, for an additional security guarantee, besides the parking brake turn on also first/reverse gear (models with RKPP), or transfer the selector lever to situation P (models from AT). Develop forward wheels so that in case of spontaneous kickback of the car they at once rested against a sidewalk border (in the presence of that).
For an otpuskaniye of the parking brake pull a control lever up and press the button which is built in in its end face (see an arrow on an illustration).

If at the included ignition the parking brake is cocked, or released not up to the end, on an instrument guard the corresponding control lamp will light up (see the left bottom corner of an illustration).
System of anti-blocking of brakes (ABS)
This system is installed on some models and considerably increases traffic safety, preventing premature blocking of wheels of the car at sharp braking or at weak coupling of wheels with the road.
The system allows to keep control over management even at sharp braking on very slippery covering.
Functionality of all basic elements of ABS is controlled by an electronic control unit (ECU) of ABS. A survey of a condition of components of system is carried out by the block both at the time of inclusion of ignition, and in the course of the movement.
The control lamp of ABS lights up at inclusion of ignition and has to go out in 2 seconds. If the lamp continues to burn, it testifies to malfunctions in system. Operation of a control lamp during the movement also means detection by system of self-checking of refusals. ABS at the same time is disconnected, however, the brake system continues to function not less in the usual mode.
In order to avoid more serious system failures the car should be driven away for performing diagnostics of necessary repair in a workshop of car service.

Remember that ABS cannot consider a panacea from any surprises at all! Moving on a slippery paving (ice, small gravel, moisture, etc.), observe extreme care! |
